Maya Dance Troupe's Annual Shows
on University of Michigan's Campus

Two years ago, Maya Dance Troupe held its first annual show, "Translations." The two hour long performance showcased around ten of Maya's current pieces at Mendelssohn Theatre in Ann Arbor, MI. After the success of "Translations," Maya held a second show, entitled "Rasa in Rhythm." The annual Maya show has become somewhat of a tradition now, challenging the team to produce dances that will provide entertainment while at the same time educate the audience about the forms Indian dance has taken in the present day.

The third annual show took place in March 2008 at the Michigan League in Ann Arbor, MI, this year. In partnership with the UM Face AIDS organization, Maya was able to raise over $1000 to contribute to Partners in Health, a non-profit organization devoted to promoting healthcare initiatives in developing countries. The team was extremely happy to be able to share an ancient art form and collaborate with groundbreaking organizations through the 2008 show.

THIS YEAR'S SHOW WILL TAKE PLACE: APRIL 10, 2009 AT THE LYDIA MENDELSSOHN THEATRE IN THE MICHIGAN LEAGUETICKETS AT $7 PRE-SALE AND $10 AT THE DOORDOORS OPEN AT 6:30PM AND THE SHOW BEGINS AT 7PM
